Dear Ms Ward,
My name is Toby Robinson. I am 14 years old and I previously went to Te Puke Intermediate, as well as Te Ranga. I have been in New Zealand for five years (Although I was born in Lower Hutt, Wellington).
I have lived in Maketu since early 2022. My mother is a nurse doing community nursing/Nursing consultancy for life plus and my dad is a Teacher/Contractor in Wellington.
I was brought up in Myanmar and Cambodia mostly being home-schooled by my mum and dad, using the steiner education system. I loved being brought up in south-east asia but coming back to New Zealand with the NZ curriculum I found it hard to adjust to the new way of learning. Myanmar is an amazing country and full of natural and manmade wonders like Bagan has over 2000 monuments (Mostly temples). I have been there quite a few times, some of the most fun I have had there is when we drove motorbikes outside of the tourist area and explored some of the most amazing temples where there was absolutely no one there.
My interests include: Computers, technology, lighting and sound, music, travel, electronics, biking, cooking, baking and security. My family loves travelling, they traveled all over Africa (that’s where my parents met). So when I was almost four years old we moved to cambodia. Me and my brother were homeschooled there by my dad while my mother was working as a nurse in a school for underprivileged children. Then we moved to Myanmar for another three years. In 2020 we came back to New Zealand for a 3 week holiday then unfortunately coved happened, also during that time in Myanmar there was a coup while my father was still there. My latest travels were to Samoa in 2023 with TPI. I love traveling and encourage others to do so if they have the means to.
So far I am thoroughly enjoying Te Puke High School and wish I do continue to do so for the next 5 years of school.
Yours sincerely
Toby Robinson
